I have a background in massage therapy and I am passionate of all things to do with health of the body. I came to Pilates later in life due to a need to address ongoing lower back pain, which came about during my second pregnancy. For the first time ever I experienced debilitating back pain. Through remedial therapy I learned that I needed to strengthen my body and the remedial therapist had me doing a small handful of core strengthening exercises and told me to go back to strength training. At this point in time I didn’t know about Pilates, so I did what I knew, I took up weight training again. I did this 3 times per week and found that it helped. I then noticed that if I dropped to twice a week the back pain would return. Upon going back to work and raising two small children, I no longer had the time or energy to continue with my workouts three times a week and the back pain returned to its original intensity. A friend then recommended classical Pilates. I then started attending classes once a week. Six months later I noticed I had no more back pain. I then took it up twice a week and have since said goodbye to back pain!

I am a qualified Peak Pilates instructor, having undertaken my studies through Simply Pilates, Brighton, Victoria,

Originally from Berlin, Dagmar moved to London after completing a diploma in business to deepen her English skills. Once there, she returned to her first love, interior design, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Interior Design and Technology. She also bought her first gym membership and as they say, the rest is history! 😉 …

It was only a matter of time until she would cross paths with true Pilates.

By now, life had led her to Melbourne where after years of participating in classical Pilates classes, she decided to train as a teacher herself. Dagmar is comprehensively trained through Peak Pilates and has consequently fallen in love with the method as taught by Vintage Pilates LA (Jay Grimes). She is continuing her education through Proper Pilates, Kyneton (The Work graduate) as well as attending workshops of travelling Vintage Pilates teachers, and participating in classes taught by classically trained instructors here and abroad.

Dagmar is fascinated by the scope of authentic Pilates and its ability to re-balance the human body, and subsequently re-establish proper movement patterns. She has a great understanding of the connections in the body, having had first-hand experience in what Pilates can achieve through addressing her own injuries, and thus a great proponent of “The Method”.
